U.S. Department of Energy Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship Program (MLEF)

The Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship (MLEF) Program provides students with an opportunity to gain and develop research skills with the Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy for 10 weeks over the summer. For 20 years, this program has increased awareness of DOE research opportunities to students pursuing STEM degrees (science, technology, engineering and math). 

The goal of the program is to improve opportunities for women and minority students in these fields, however all eligible candidates are encouraged to apply. Stipends start at $600 per week and eligible Fellows will receive an additional travel and housing allowance.

2014 Open Society Fellowships

2014 Open Society Fellowships - Applications are invited for Open Society Fellowship. International students are eligible for this fellowship. This is a fellowship for individuals only and does not fund enrollment for degree or non-degree study at academic institutions, including dissertation research. International Fellowship terms are for one year which covers stipend, accommodation, airfare, visa costs, research assistance, conference fees and health insurance. Most fellows spend a portion of their term in one or more Open Society Foundation offices for 2014 Open Society Fellowships

The Fellowship in Public Health

The Fellowship in Public Health is intended to support research that fosters academic science, knowledge of public health, and collaborative partnerships between accredited schools or programs of public health and
federal, state, and local departments of public health. Institutions interested in this fellowship program must submit research proposals for programs or initiatives that involve chronic disease prevention (e.g., smoking cessation), healthcare costs (e.g., economic costs of counterfeit medicines), preventive medicine, and/or public health preparedness.


Fellowships

Prospective fellows at the institution CANNOT apply directly for the award. A Fellow may assist the senior staff, division head or department chair at the institution in the development of the grant application


A fellow supported by a Pfizer MAP fellowship must have the opportunity to carry out supervised biomedical or clinical research with the primary objective of preparing them for their respective discipline and subspecialty

Upon receipt of the grant award, the Fellow selected by the Institution must meet the following criteria:

   - US citizen or foreign national with permanent US residence
   - Hold an advanced degree (i.e., MD, DO, NP, PharmD, etc.)
   - Be enrolled in fellowship program (Clinical award recipients)
   - Hold a non-tenured, junior faculty appointment (Research award
   recipients)

New Fulbright Application Deadline for Academic Year 2011

New Fulbright Scholarships 2011-The Office of Academic Exchange Programs Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. State Department, is pleased to announce a new exchange program for undergraduate students-2010 Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global ugrade) as New Fulbright Scholarships 2011

The Global Fund makes grants to ugrade a semester or academic year in the U.S. in a non-degree curriculum. The program’s objectives are to provide a diverse group of emerging student leaders, non-elite and under-represented groups in Indonesia and East Asia.

All program participants will be enrolled worldwide Ugrade full-time undergraduate courses chosen (U.S.) current curriculum of the institution to allow students ample opportunity for ongoing interaction with their fellow U.S. Faculty . and students, and exposure to U.S. academic cultureand in the classroom.

May Scholarships honor of Ernest Ernest May, Charles Warren Professor of American History, a member of the Belfer Center’s board of directors and a faculty affiliate of the International Security Center, who died in June 2009 .
May Fellows Ernesto is in the Belfer Center and participate in the activities of the Centre as part of a group of scholars of international security.

Have access to all research resources at Harvard. Niall Ferguson, Laurence Tisch Professor of History at Harvard University and a member of the Board of Directors of the Belfer Center, will serve as point of contact and mentor for the fellows.

International Nuclear Security Fellowship, Belfer Center

2011 International Fellowships - Belfer Center for International Security Program (ISP) has been has been invited to participate in a new nuclear security grants funded by the Stanton. These scholarships are for pre-doctoral and postdoctoral researchers and young faculty. The aim of the fellowship is to encourage the development of the next generation of opinion leaders in nuclear safety, to support research that advance understanding of relevant policy issues. Stipend Information

These scholarships are offered ten-month fellowships of $ 20,000 research fellows and pre-doctoral fellowships for postdoctoral researchers and junior faculty will be granted on a case by case basis and with experience, with the provision of health insurance. The office space and supplies, computers with LAN and Internet connections and access to libraries of Harvard University and other facilities will be provided.

e8 Scholarship Programme in Education for Sustainable Energy Development (ESED)


NEWEST Scholarship Programme 2010. - In 2001, the e8 established as a pilot project, a scholarship program to encourage and support the study of sustainable energy development in the world.

These scholarships were made available to outstanding students from developing countries and economies in transition for a period of up to two years in the Masters. Energy Education Development (ESED) was selected by the e8 theme for the 2004-2005 year presidency.

The year 2005 marked the beginning of the United Nations Decade for Education and therefore was an opportunity to e8 leadership and profile in the field of education with a focus on sustainable energy development. A report ESED e8 in Africa, Asia and Latin America provide the basis for selection.

In 2004, the Fellowship Program was evaluated and a comprehensive assessment of options for support ESED prepared. The e8 members decided to establish a five-year Programme of Action, which consists of the following programs:

The scholarships range from $ 500 to $ 2500 per year be offered to all wind instruments, metal, string and percussion instruments, piano, voice and composition. The Department does not offer graduate fellowships.

I. Materials Use: Music Scholarship applicants must submit all the following materials. These materials must be postmarked no later than Friday, February 25, 2011, to consider.
    1. A written statement from a typed page, double spaced, in the musical background (specify which tool or area that you are hearing) and career goals. Show how your academic career is aimed at promoting these goals.

Newest Scholarships in 2011 from Alaska Pharmacists Association, Scholarship applications will be going out in mid August. Since AkPhA members have been so supportive of the scholarships through personal donations and the silent auction held at the convention, we will again be able to offer three separate newest scholarships in 2011:
  1. The Francis C. Bowden Memorial Scholarship. Students who are Alaska residents and enrolled in a Professional Pharmacy program at an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy will be eligible to apply for this award.  Scholarship application- Pharmacy Student   $2,000.00 Scholarship Award

Graduate Fellowships in Modern European Studies


Newest Graduate Fellowships in Modern European Studies 2010 from  The Center for German and European Studies announces the availability of fellowships in the amount of $10,000 ($5,000 each semester), Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 for outstanding entering UC Berkeley graduate students who demonstrate an interest in modern European studies. Newest Graduate Fellowships

The sponsoring unit must agree to provide tuition and fee waivers for students who are selected. The Center will also provide a matching grant of $5,000 for a third semester (Fall 2011), provided that the nominating department continues the tuition and fee waiver support and agrees to provide an additional $5,000 to the student. 

The department’s contribution can come in the form of a GSI or GSR appointment. The student’s graduate advisor is required to write a brief narrative report on their progress each semester.

Library of Congress Seeks Applicants for Kislak Fellowship 
The John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress is accepting applications for a Kislak Fellowship that offers a post-doctoral scholar an opportunity to conduct research related to the discovery, contact and colonial periods in Florida, the Caribbean and Mesoamerica using the Jay Kislak Collection.


The fellowship is awarded for a period of up to eight months at a stipend of $4,200 per month. Applications must be postmarked by Friday, Oct. 15, 2010. For an application form, visit www.loc.gov/loc/kluge/fellowships/kislak.html.


The fellowship is open to scholars worldwide with a Ph.D. or other
terminal advanced degree awarded by the Oct. 15 deadline.


The Kislak Collection is a major collection of rare books, manuscripts, historic documents, maps and art of the Americas donated to the Library of Congress by the Jay I. Kislak Foundation of Miami Lakes, Fla. The collection contains some of the earliest records of indigenous peoples in North America and superb objects from the discovery, contact and colonial periods, especially for Florida, the Caribbean and Mesoamerica.

Pappalardo Fellowships Program Overview

The mission of the MIT Pappalardo Fellowships in Physics is to sustain a distinguished postdoctoral program that identifies, recruits and supports the most talented and promising young physicists at an early stage in their careers from this Fellowships.

This initiative is made possible by the support of Mr. A. Neil Pappalardo (EE ’64), an MIT alumnus with a long history of generosity to both the Institute and the Department of Physics.

The Knight Fellowships awards up to nine fellowships each year to journalists from outside the United States who have already done first-rate work and who have the potential of great impact in journalism in their home countries.

The program has revised its selection process to reflect a new emphasis on journalistic innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership, including an emphasis on developing and strengthening press freedoms around the world.

  • Be entering your junior or senior year of college in fall 2011. 
  • Be a member of a racial or ethnic minority. 
  • Be enrolled full-time in a four-year accredited college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year.

The purpose of the Ambassadorial Scholarships program is to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries and geographical areas. 

The program sponsors academic year scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students as well as for qualified professionals pursuing vocational studies. While abroad, scholars serve as goodwill ambassadors to the host country and give presentations about their homelands to Rotary clubs and other groups. Upon returning home, scholars share with Rotarians and others
the experiences that led to a greater understanding of their host country.
