Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Opportunity, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research - The Sleep Research Center (SRC), Behavioral Biology Branch, Walter Reed
Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) is seeking applicants for an NRC
(National Academies) the fellow who will participate in multimodal studies of
sleep and its impact on waking performance.


WRAIR is a major international center for sleep/circadian research, one of the premier military sleep facilities supported by the Department of Defense.  Our Branch has active ongoing collaborations with intramural NIMH, NINDS, NIBIB, the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center/NICoE, Johns Hopkins University, Yale University, the University of Maryland and Washington State University.

 

Sleep research at WRAIR includes both preclinical and clinical studies, the latter ranging from basic in-laboratory studies to field trials which assess the real-world application of the basic findings.

The Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship (MLEF) Program provides students with an opportunity to gain and develop research skills with the Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy for 10 weeks over the summer. For 20 years, this program has increased awareness of DOE research opportunities to students pursuing STEM degrees (science, technology, engineering and math). 

The goal of the program is to improve opportunities for women and minority students in these fields, however all eligible candidates are encouraged to apply. Stipends start at $600 per week and eligible Fellows will receive an additional travel and housing allowance.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for the design and evaluation of experiments, development of new ideas that promote current research as well as performing quantitative data analysis in a multi-disciplinary team setting. 

Candidates must have a passionate enthusiasm for research and a strong background in one of the following fields: computational neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, mathematics/statistics/machine learning or related-fields.
