PhD Studentship Novel Atomiser Design
School of Computing, Science and Engineering (CSE) University of Salford
Spray Research Group (SRG)

Bursary: £13,590 p.a (plus no tuition fees to pay)
Applicants are invited for a 3 year PhD studentship in the School of Computing, Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University of Salford. The candidate will be based in the Engineering Research Centre and will specialise in spray technology both experimentally and theoretically with the Spray Research Group (SRG).

Spray technology is used in many industrial and commercial applications, such as: nanotechnology, power generation, propulsion, painting, medical, aerosol, decontamination and cooling. One inherent problem with atomisers at high to medium flow rates is that the droplet size distribution produced by the atomiser becomes too wide. The research studentship is to develop a novel type of atomiser design through experimental and mathematical modelling by using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in order to reduce droplet size distribution.
